The application process for the new expanded entitlements will remain the same as the current 30 hours, with HMRC continuing to determine eligibility via the Childcare Choices government website.
From 2 January 2024, eligible working parents of 2-year-olds will be able to apply for a code for the 15 hours entitlement. Parents can apply up to 31 days before taking up or returning to work. The earliest a parent could receive an eligibility code for their child is 16 weeks before they turn the age of eligibility.
