Advice, signposting, and information on:

From April 2024, working parents (eligibility criteria will apply but it is not published yet) of 2-year-olds will be able to apply to access 15 hours of free childcare per week (over 38 weeks a year) from the term after their child’s birthday.

The application process for the new expanded entitlements will remain the same as the current 30 hours, with HMRC continuing to determine eligibility via the Childcare Choices government website.

From 2 January 2024, eligible working parents of 2-year-olds will be able to apply for a code for the 15 hours entitlement. Parents can apply up to 31 days before taking up or returning to work. The earliest a parent could receive an eligibility code for their child is 16 weeks before they turn the age of eligibility.

Parents will not be able to apply before 2 January 2024.
