PayPoint
We have introduced a new, more convenient way for you to pay your council bills.
The new PayPoint service launched in March 2020. You can now make payments at your local PayPoint retailer, instead of travelling to the Civic Centre or Access Centre at Edmonton Green. You can use the new service once you get your barcoded bill.
There are 140 retailers in Enfield and 28,000 across the UK who will soon accept the payment of your council bill via PayPoint. Retailers range from small convenience stores to supermarkets. Many are open seven days a week, opening early until late.
Closing other services
Due to the launch of PayPoint, the Cashiers Service and auto pay kiosks at the Civic Centre and Edmonton Centre are now closed.
The new service
PayPoint is easy to use. Just give your bill, which will contain a unique barcode, to the shop assistant. After you make your payment, they will give you a receipt. The barcode on the bill will ensure the payment is processed to your Enfield account. You should keep the receipt for your records.
PayPoint can be used to pay:
- Council Tax
- Housing rents
- Leaseholder service charges
- Housing Benefit overpayments
- Invoices to pay for a council service or charge
- Business rates
- Paid for garden waste collection service
All PayPoint retailers will accept cash, and some accept debit and credit card payments. The maximum that can be paid in one transaction is £300. The limit is set by PayPoint as some retailers will be small shops, so this limits how much cash they handle in store.
PayPoint is a bill payment market leader and trusted processor of high volumes of transactions. It is a safe way to pay. Many Enfield residents are already using the service to pay other bills.
Payments take around four working days to show up on your account after you make your payment. So, if you paid at a PayPoint on Monday, the earliest it will show on your account is Thursday.
Where to pay
There are 140 retailers here in Enfield, and 28,000 across the rest of the UK, who will soon accept council bill payments by PayPoint.
You can find you nearest outlet by visiting PayPoint.
You can also pay your bill wherever you see the PayPoint sign.
Other ways to pay
You can also pay your bills through Direct Debit. Tens of thousands of Enfield households already pay their bills in this way.
If you need help setting up a Direct Debit for Council Tax call 020 8379 1000 and select option 2. For business rates call 020 8379 4760. Or you can come to one of the following locations without an appointment, where a member of staff will be able to help you:
- Access Centre at Enfield Town Library, 66 Church Street, Enfield, EN2 6AX
- Access Centre at Edmonton Green Library, South Mall, Edmonton Green, Edmonton, N9 0TX
Alternatively, your bill or invoice will provide other ways to pay.
If you currently pay your housing rent at a Post Office, you can still do so. The same barcode on your bill or rent card can also be used at the Post Office and Payzone retailers. It's likely that your local PayPoint will be closer to you though, as they have many more retailers.
