We’re proud of our schools in Enfield. They perform well compared to schools in other areas. All our schools are rated good or outstanding by Ofsted in all 4 areas of the Education Inspection Framework (EIF). Results are above the national average and are getting closer to the London average.
Our school leaders and staff are dedicated and hardworking. But like other areas, children from less well-off families often do not do as well as those from wealthier homes. There are also differences in results between different groups of pupils.
Challenges we face
- Fewer children are living in London – birth rates have dropped by 24%
- Economic inequality and the long-term impact of the pandemic could widen the gap between disadvantaged and non-disadvantaged pupils
- More children need special educational support (SEND), and many have more complex needs
- The job market is changing fast – we’re preparing pupils for careers that do not yet exist, especially as AI transforms many industries
- Low uptake of 15 hours childcare for 3 and 4 year olds
