This offer gives your school dedicated, experienced support throughout the year to help you drive improvement, meet statutory responsibilities, and access expert advice when you need it most.

What you can expect throughout the year
Each term, your visit includes a core conversation – a structured, purposeful meeting between your school and your SIA to:
- reflect on school progress and challenges
- prioritise improvement actions
- identify and coordinate additional support
- share data and insights to keep improvement on track
These conversations help build a clear, shared understanding of your school’s journey and what’s needed to keep improving outcomes.
Termly strategic visits
You’ll receive 3 half-day visits (one each term) from your dedicated School Improvement Adviser (SIA), who will:
- help you reflect on your self-evaluation and key priorities
- support your school development planning with expert, external perspective
- carry out teaching and learning reviews
- provide subject leader training and subject-specific reviews
- deliver training for middle and senior leaders on curriculum quality, effective monitoring, and handling difficult conversations
- complete a curriculum health check
- review writing assessment
- review early reading and reading for pleasure
- offer coaching for headteacher and senior leaders
This is your core support to help you stay focused, strategic, and proactive in school improvement.
Responsive help when it matters most
We provide additional support tailored to your school's needs:
- During Ofsted inspections, your SIA will be your point of contact, and an LA officer will attend the final feedback meeting so you’re not alone
- If your school needs extra support, we will:
- lead reviews of teaching and learning
- help shape and monitor your school improvement and commissioning plans
- join Rapid Recovery Group meetings for schools at higher risk, offering practical support and oversight
Trusted advice for leadership
- Headteacher performance management: An expert local authority adviser will support governors with a 2-hour session in the autumn term
- New headteachers: You’ll receive an early welcome call and induction programme so you’re never starting from scratch
- Recruiting a headteacher? We offer statutory guidance and support through to the final appointment
Strengthening teaching and provision – SEN and EYFS
Where schools need focused support, we’ll offer extra targeted visits, including:
- free early years support from an expert professional (including nursery and 2-year-old settings)
- SEN resource provision
This ensures help is available exactly where it’s needed to raise standards and strengthen inclusion.
Early years support
A series of focused visits for headteachers and EY phase leads to drive improvement.
Includes:
- core annual visit and/or identified training session identified by school
- workshop on developing the EY curriculum, planning and assessment
- support for setting up nursery provision, covering:
- governance requirements
- space and facilities
- DfE requirements for nursery provision
- EY curriculum development and planning
Governor support that builds confidence
Your governors will benefit from:
- regular advice and guidance
- induction and training resources
- monthly surgeries for queries and support
- instrument of government support
- appointment and development of LA governors
- a dedicated forum for Chairs to share and learn
All designed to strengthen governance and leadership in your school.
Statutory assessment and safeguarding confidence
We take the pressure off by providing:
- KS2 writing moderation training and workshops
- safeguarding review visits
Connecting you with the right support
- We broker support between schools so you can benefit from collaboration
- You’ll also receive updates, guidance, and resources through The Hub
Wider strategic advice and communication
Behind the scenes, we help with:
- responding to concerns or correspondence about your school
Academy schools
We extend the same partnership approach:
- Meet with CEOs and headteachers to understand priorities and build collaboration
- Access our traded support services and new headteacher induction
