Vehicle owner fined after car used to fly-tip twice in Enfield

Nobel Road fly tipping

A man whose vehicle was used to illegally fly tip a large amount of household waste in the same road on two separate dates has been successfully prosecuted, following an investigation by Enfield Council’s waste enforcement team.

Council officers studied footage from mobile waste enforcement CCTV cameras, that showed a man dumping rubbish from a silver Mercedes hatchback in Nobel Road, Edmonton.

Mr Sali Yumerov, 26, from Barnet (N11), was identified as the registered keeper of the vehicle. He failed to assist in investigations to locate the fly-tipper and was found to have allowed his vehicle to be used to carry out the illegal activity.

On 1 October 2026, Yumerov pleaded guilty to the two fly tipping charges brought against him at Highbury Corner Magistrates Court in north London.

The Magistrates ordered him to pay a fine of £138, prosecution costs of £500 and a victim surcharge of £55. Total: £693.

Cllr Maria Alexandrou, Cabinet Member for Environment at Enfield Council, said: “It beggars’ belief the defendant allowed his vehicle to be used by someone else to illegally dump waste not once but twice within a week in our borough.

“Fly tippers should be aware we have a zero-tolerance stance on those who dump their rubbish on our streets. The same goes for those who allow their vehicles to be used to fly tip and fail to cooperate with us.

“We offer Enfield residents a free bulky waste collection from their doorstep, and there are two facilities for the disposal of household waste available at Barrowell Green and Edmonton Eco Park, so there is never any excuse to fly tip.”

The Council is pursuing its proposals for weekly, kerbside bin collections to return which it believes would have a dramatic, long-term impact on Enfield.
