Cleaner streets, safer neighbourhoods, more affordable homes and stronger support for local families are among the priorities set out in Enfield Council's new four-year Council Plan, which was formally adopted at last night’s full Council meeting.
“Delivering for Enfield” sets out how the Council intends to focus its resources and services between 2026 and 2030 to bring improvements that residents will see and feel in their neighbourhoods and communities.
Commitments include tackling fly tipping, improving waste and recycling services, protecting green spaces, investing in council housing and prioritising brownfield estate regeneration, working with partners to tackle crime and antisocial behaviour, improving roads and pavements, supporting employment opportunities and helping residents through ongoing cost-of-living pressures.
The new plan is built around seven priority ambitions which will guide the work of every Council service over the next four years. These priorities are:

· A Greener Enfield
· A Safer Enfield
· A Thriving Enfield
· A Stronger Enfield
· An Affordable Enfield
· A Connected Enfield
Work is already under way to deliver the Council's priorities. Recent decisions include introducing 30 minutes of free parking in town centres to support local high streets and boost the local economy; withdrawing from New Town proposals to protect the borough's Green Belt and to re-emphasise a focus on brownfield sites; and in the coming months, councillors will also consider proposals to reintroduce weekly bin collections, helping to make recycling simpler and supporting efforts to reduce fly tipping.
Enfield Council’s Leader, Cllr Alessandro Georgiou, said: ""Residents want a council that gets the basics right and focuses on the issues that matter most: cleaner streets, safer neighbourhoods, decent homes, reliable local services and real support for families facing ongoing cost-of-living pressures. That's exactly what we are determined to deliver.
This Plan is a clear commitment to residents. It sets out our priorities for the next four years and, crucially, the standards by which people can judge our success. We believe in accountability and transparency. Residents deserve to see real improvements in their communities and to know exactly what we are doing to deliver.

Residents will receive annual updates on progress against the Plan, while performance will be monitored throughout the year to ensure the Council remains on track to deliver its commitments. The Council has also introduced a new performance framework that will regularly track progress against each of the seven priorities and help ensure resources remain focused on delivering results for residents.
The Council Plan will guide future investment, policies and service delivery across the borough and shape the work of every Council department over the next four years.
