The Enfield Public Safety Centre (EPSC) monitors CCTV cameras across the borough 24 hours a day, seven days a week to help keep Enfield residents safe.
The EPSC is operated by Enfield Council and helps the police in their investigations, enabling many arrests and provides vital evidence for trials and prosecutions.
Here are examples of recent incidents Enfield Council’s ESPC operators have picked up on camera that have assisted police:
Drink driving arrest – 14 June 2026
Our CCTV operator spotted a suspicious vehicle parked outside the front gate of the Enfield Public Safety Centre (EPSC) in Edmonton (N9).
The operator also saw a woman urinating in the street and alerted the Metropolitan Police for further surveillance.
The driver was seen leaving the vehicle and appeared to be heavily intoxicated and began talking to the woman who also appeared to be under the influence.
As the man drove away, our operator immediately notified the police and provided them with a description of the individuals and the vehicle.
The vehicle was tracked on camera as the driver drove onto Montague Road, turning left into Picketts Lock Lane in Edmonton where he stopped with the engine still running. The police were notified of the location.
Upon arrival, officers initially believed the driver was no longer present. But our CCTV operator played back a review of the footage and confirmed the man was still in the area.
Officers located the driver as he was walking back towards the vehicle, and the identification of the suspect was confirmed.
Police officers conducted a search, obtained a statement, and carried out an electronic breathalyser test.
Following the test result, officers handcuffed and arrested the man for being drunk in charge of a motor vehicle and for drink driving and put him into a police van.
Robbery with a zombie knife – 12 June 2026
A Council CCTV operator on proactive patrol spotted a man acting suspiciously wearing a balaclava at Enfield Playing Fields on the 3G pitch in Donkey Lane which is adjacent to Dave Bryant Stadium (EN1).
Our operator saw a man leaving the pitch area where he moved towards bushes near the car park and sent live video footage to the Metropolitan Police to monitor.
A youth was seen running out from the same bush area in a distressed state, repeatedly looking back, displaying body language consistent with being a victim of robbery.
Moments later, a male emerged from the bush area holding a mobile phone. The suspect was then seen joining a large group of individuals at the end of the pitch.
Shortly after, the man, still wearing a balaclava, was seen producing a large zombie knife and placing it on the ground, while concealing it underneath a pile of gym bags and clothing.
Our operator immediately notified police of the developments, including the suspected robbery and the presence of a weapon, and provided details including the suspect description, exact location, and the suspected hiding place of the weapon.
An armed police response unit called Trojan who support when there are weapons involved, attended the scene.
Monitoring of the suspect and a large group of approximately 50 youths in the area continued.
The National Police Air Service (NPAS) attended and provided aerial support alongside the Trojan unit police officers.
Our CCTV operator directed police precisely to the location of the suspect, enabling officers to lock down the 3G pitch and control the main entry and exit point.
Individuals were detained on the pitch and were searched.
The footage captured successfully identified the exact location of the concealed weapon and this was relayed to police officers who recovered a large zombie knife.
The man was arrested for two counts of robbery and possession of an offensive weapon and was placed into a police van.
The Metropolitan Police later confirmed two separate reports of knifepoint robbery at the same location matching the suspect’s description.
The police expressed their appreciation and thanked the Council’s EPSC team for their vigilance, communication, and assistance throughout the incident.
