Enfield Public Safety Centre (EPSC) incident update

Enfield Civic Centre

The Enfield Public Safety Centre (EPSC) monitors CCTV cameras across the borough 24 hours a day, seven days a week to help keep Enfield residents safe.

The EPSC is operated by Enfield Council and helps the police in their investigations, enabling many arrests and provides vital evidence for trials and prosecutions.

Cllr Gina Needs, Cabinet Member for Community Cohesion and Enforcement at Enfield Council, said: “The EPSC is an incredible asset to the council, and the monitoring of the borough 24/7 by dedicated staff helps to keep our residents safe.

"Our partnership working with local police is helping to crackdown on crime and antisocial behaviour which is not tolerated in Enfield.”

Here are examples of recent incidents Enfield Council’s ESPC operators have picked up on camera that have assisted police:

Assault and drunk and disorderly – Sunday 7 December 2025

A council EPSC operator witnessed a fight outside the Little Vegas Casino on Fore Street in Edmonton. The operator immediately notified the police who sent officers to the location.

The operator provided a description of the suspect and assisted police officers by directing them to the precise location of the incident.

The police officers engaged with the aggressor, pushing him back and away from the security guard.

The aggressor began shouting and attempting to push forward against police instructions. Officers then placed him in handcuffs. Another man was arrested for assault and drunk and disorderly conduct.

Prostitution and drug offences – Wednesday 10 December 2025

While on active patrol, a council CCTV operator monitored a possible female sex worker and a man at Lange Hedge Close at Edmonton (N18).

The surveillance focused on the woman’s safety. The operator sent a live video footage feed to the Met Police monitors and directed police officers to the exact location along with descriptions. The EPSC operator spotted an exchange of an unknown substance from the man to the woman, potentially as 'payment'.

The operator immediately notified police who headed to the scene. Officers arrived and detained the woman.

The operator alerted the police to the man who had removed a substance from a cigarette box he was carrying. He had tried to to discard it.

Police officers later confirmed the substance was crack cocaine.

As a result of action taken by the council’s CCTV operators, police arrested a woman for prostitution related activity, and the arrest of a man for drug offences and public indecency.

Robbery on Hertford Road – Friday 12 December 2025

CCTV operators observed two men walking along Hertford Road near the junction with Longfield Avenue.

The operator watched as they approached Enfield Food Centre. Shortly after, the suspects began chasing a man who had just left the store riding an electric scooter.

The suspects intercepted the victim on Hertford Road near Turkey Street, forcibly taking his electric scooter.

The victim was then dragged into Gilbert Street. The suspects were seen riding the stolen scooter toward Lidl on Hertford Road.

They were later seen turning past the Enfield Highway Conservative Club. EPSC control immediately notified the police who located the two suspects. They dumped the scooter and ran in different directions. The operator guided police to the location where the victim was last seen, so they could check his welfare.

The stolen scooter was later recovered near Lidl car park and returned to the victim.

Five arrested for possession of offensive weapons, affray and aggravated burglary – Tuesday 23 December 2025

The EPSC received a call about an attempted burglary at a property in Marrilyne Avenue, Enfield (EN3). Our operator spotted the suspects who were seen on a doorbell camera kicking a door while two of the suspects were holding machetes.

The suspects were said to be in a white Nissan Juke. Officers believed it was the same car linked to a previous burglary attempted on Northumberland Avenue in Enfield (EN1).

The operator spotted a white Nissan Juke heading to Mollison Avenue, Enfield from Bilton Way (EN3) on camera at 5.03am, and informed officers the vehicle had been spotted and gave the direction of travel.

Police officers pursued the Juke that crashed into a tree in Whitehall Road at the junction with Bentley Way and Newlands Road (EN3). Five suspects were arrested including two adult men, one juvenile man and two juvenile women, for possession of offensive weapons, affray and aggravated burglary.
