A statement from the Leader of Enfield Council, Cllr Ergin Erbil, on the attack at a synagogue in Manchester:

Enfield Council Leader, Cllr Ergin Erbil said:

“We are shocked and deeply saddened to hear of the hateful attack in Manchester today, on what should have been a sacred and peaceful day of reflection for our Jewish communities across the world. Our thoughts and prayers are with everyone who has been affected by these events in Manchester and across the UK.

“We await further details on the incident. I can confirm that additional Met Police patrols have been deployed to synagogues in Enfield and across London.

“I want to reassure our Jewish community in Enfield that we will not be divided by hate. We stand in solidarity with our Jewish community and all those who may feel vulnerable or unsettled in the wake of this attack.

“We will work closely with the Met Police and community leaders to ensure that safety and reassurance are prioritised and I would like to emphasise our commitment to tolerance and mutual respect in Enfield and beyond.”
