Leader’s statement - Enfield Standing Strong Against Hate and Division

We understand the deep concern many of our residents, community groups, local businesses, and local organisations feel following the disturbing scenes of violence and hate in central London over the weekend.

Let me be clear: Enfield is no place for hate, and we will not allow extremists to divide us.

We are working tirelessly to protect our residents and strengthen the bonds that make our borough so special. Enfield is proud of its diversity, and we celebrate the richness of our communities every day. Everyone who calls Enfield home is welcome here.

We believe in unity, respect, and inclusion. We stand together as one borough. We are committed to keeping our streets safe, supporting those who feel anxious or threatened, and ensuring that every resident feels they belong.

Our teams continue to work closely with the Police, community leaders, and local partners to provide reassurance and take action where needed. I want to personally thank the Police and our incredible community champions for their dedication to making Enfield a safer, more inclusive place for all.

If you witness or experience hate crime, report it immediately via our website or via the Met Police.  If you’re in danger, call 999.

We are stronger together and we will keep standing side by side to build an Enfield free from racism, violence, and division.
