Your new recycling storage bag

Storing recycling before taking it to the communal recycling bin can be difficult and messy.

To help with this, Enfield Council is trialling a new recycling storage bag. You can use the bag to store your recycling until you are ready to take it to the communal recycling bins.

How to use your new recycling storage bag

  1. Collect: Use the bag to collect dry mixed recycling in your flat
  2. Take: Take the full bag to your communal recycling bins
  3. Empty: Put the recycling into the correct bins. Do not put the bag in the bin.
  4. Reuse: Take your bag home and use it again

How to recycle

If you have not used your recycling service before, or it has been a while, follow the steps below to get started.

Check it! Rinse it! Recycle it!

  1. Make sure you use a recycling bin with a blue lid. The lid may not open fully, so use the flap in the lid. Do not force the lid open. This helps reduce incorrect items being put in the bin.
  2. Check what you can and cannot recycle on our blue recycling bins page
  3. Make sure containers are empty and give them a quick rinse when you do your washing up
  4. Keep your recycling in your storage bag. When it is nearly full, use the bag to take the recycling to the communal recycling bin.
  5. Put accepted items loose in the bin. Do not put them in a bag. Flatten large cardboard boxes and place them next to the bin.
  6. Take your bag back to your flat and use it again. Do not put the bag in the bin.
