1. Introduction

1.1 This document sets out Enfield’s Council Housing (Housing and Regeneration Directorate) policy and procedure on dealing with abandoned vehicles. It aligns with the corporate policy on dealing with abandoned vehicles.

1.2 This policy uses the provisions of the Refuse Disposal (Amenity) Act 1978 (as amended), the Removal and Disposal of Vehicles Regulations 1986 (as amended), the Local Government (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 1982, the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, and the Anti-Social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act 2014.

1.3 It aims to inform the public and guide staff on handling abandoned vehicles on Council Housing managed land.

1.4 Officers should liaise with Enfield Council’s appointed contractor to remove vehicles after reasonable searches for the registered owner/keeper.
