Two arrested in cannabis bust

Enfield Council's CCTV operators have helped police arrest two men after a cannabis factory was raided.

Two men have been arrested thanks to Enfield Council CCTV operators after police raided a suspected cannabis factory.

Police officers entered the property in Enfield in the early hours of 25 September and asked the Council’s CCTV team to trace a car that had left the factory moments earlier.

The Council’s workers rapidly tracked the vehicle to Hertford Road and directed police cars to its location where two men were arrested after a short chase on foot.

Enfield Council’s Cabinet Member for Community Safety and Cohesion, Cllr Nneka Keazor, said: “CCTV works and is a valuable weapon in our fight against crime in Enfield.

“We are committed to working with our partners in the Metropolitan Police to prevent and detect crime and to help bring criminals to justice.

“We are determined to make Enfield a safer placer and will continue to invest in efforts to protect residents and property in our borough.”

Enfield Council officially opened its Public Safety Centre in 2003, the centre is owned and managed by Enfield Council

The centre currently monitors more than 300 Council CCTV cameras including those on housing estates and inside buildings, it also carries out traffic enforcement outside schools only, on behalf of NSL.
