London Councils to host COVID-19 vaccine information event for Turkish speaking communities in London

An online Covid-19 vaccine information event for London’s Turkish speaking communities is taking place next week.

The event, chaired by the Leader of Enfield Council, Cllr Nesil Caliskan, on Tuesday, 9 March 2021, from 6pm to 7.30pm, has been put together by Enfield Council in partnership with Haringey and Hackney Councils.

The information event has been organised to encourage the take up of the coronavirus vaccine and provide information to Turkish speaking communities in London.

The Council is keen to work with Turkish communities because there have been lower than average take up rates of the coronavirus vaccine among members of this community as it is being rolled out.

Enfield Council Leader, Cllr Nesil Caliskan, who is chairing the event, said: “I am very pleased we are organising this important event, COVID-19 has had a devastating impact on our communities. Vaccine uptake is crucial to prevent more deaths and ensure we can get back to normal as soon as possible.

“Councils in London are working with the NHS to deliver a series of online COVID vaccination events aimed at a range of community groups including those where there are high levels of vaccine hesitancy.

"Given that there is a huge Turkish speaking population in London it is right that we hold this event for our residents.

“As a Council, we are committed to ensuring that every resident gets all the information about the vaccines so they are comfortable knowing they are safe and effective and will protect them and their loved ones from coronavirus.

Residents living across London can join the informal, open and interactive session online via Zoom or watch live on Enfield Council’s Facebook page.

Participants will listen to health professionals talk about the benefits of taking the vaccine and hear from others who have had the vaccine and their experiences.

There will also be a question and answer session where participants can ask questions or raise any concerns they may have.

You can join the information event on Zoom (, Webinar ID 970 4312 7076, or watch live on our Facebook page (to ask questions you will have to join via Zoom).
