Enfield Council Leader, Cllr Nesil Caliskan, has marked the 70th anniversary of the NHS by visiting the new state of the art hospital on the Chase Farm site as it nears completion.
The new hospital will provide out-patient services (including children’s, women’s and diagnostic tests), an urgent care centre (treating minor injuries and illnesses that are urgent but not life-threatening), an older persons assessment unit (treating patients aged 65 and over referred by their GPs.
The unit will offer patients a range of treatments and diagnostic tests), an endoscopy unit and chemotherapy day unit. It will have eight operating theatres including four ‘barn theatres’, specifically designed for orthopaedic work, a dedicated day surgery area and 50 surgical in-patient beds.
Construction of the new building on the Chase Farm site will be completed in the summer 2018.
Cllr Caliskan, said: “The 70th anniversary of the creation of the NHS is incredibly important. It is an opportunity for us to recognise how important the NHS is in delivering healthcare to patients; as well to celebrate the front line staff who are the back of our most loved and valuable institution.”
