Introducing Enfield’s first Cycle Hubs

Two major Cycle Hubs have just been installed by Cyclehoop at Enfield Town and Edmonton Green rail stations as part of the award-winning Cycle Enfield programme.

The Cycle Hubs, the first of their kind in Enfield, will be ready for use from mid-September and are designed to be used by commuters and visitors to shops and nearby amenities, enabling people to park their bikes before using trains to get into central London or further afield.

Both Cycle Hubs are steel and glass structures with CCTV thereby providing secure cycle parking for up to 50 bikes and three accessible cycles. They can be accessed 24 hours a day, seven days a week by using an access card.

Facilities include a bike pump and repair stand so that cyclists can make quick repairs and keep their tyres fully pumped whilst on the go.

Enfield Council’s Deputy Leader, Cllr Daniel Anderson, said: “We’d like to see as many people as possible who visit our town centres or use local tube or rail services to leave their cars at home and consider active travel wherever possible and practicable.

"By providing secure parking for cycles these hubs will help encourage more people to do just that.”

Enfield Council’s Cycle Enfield project, which has external funding from TfL, aims to regenerate and improve town centres, dramatically improve transport links and encourage more people to use sustainable methods of transport in the borough.

Cyclehoop will manage the membership of both Cycle Hubs on behalf of Enfield Council. There will be an introductory membership fee for the first year of £25 and members will have access to both hubs.

Anthony Lau, Cyclehoop MD says; “At Cyclehoop, we are committed to breaking down the barriers to cycling ensuring that cycling can be safer, secure and convenient. This means that finding a safe place to park your bike is our top priority. We are proud to have played a part in developing these new pieces of infrastructure that will lead to an increase in cycling in the borough.”
