A Harrow man has been found in contempt of court after admitting that he breached Enfield Council's car cruising injunction.
Nojus Sartauskas, of Alveston Avenue, Harrow, admitted that on 1 August 2026 he was driving a white BMW and carried out prohibited vehicle stunts, including a wheel spin and doughnuts, in breach of the borough's injunction. He also admitted removing the vehicle's registration plates before taking part in the stunts on Lockfield Avenue (EN3).
On 25 August 2026, the Honourable Mrs Justice Brunner, sitting in the High Court of Justice, King's Bench Division, found Mr Sartauskas in contempt of court. The Court granted the Council's application and imposed a fine of £750. He was also ordered to pay the Council's legal costs of £8,484.40 through monthly instalments of £500. Together, this totals £9,234.40.
The breach occurred on Lockfield Avenue, an area that has experienced repeated reports of antisocial driving, vehicle nuisance and illegal racing activity. Police officers monitoring the area witnessed the vehicle carrying out dangerous manoeuvres before stopping and arresting the driver. Warning posters highlighting the injunction and the penalties for breaching it had been installed at the location earlier on the same day.
The Leader of Enfield Council, Cllr Alessandro Georgiou, said: "Let's be clear, car cruising, illegal racing and stunt driving are not harmless fun. They blight neighbourhoods, keep residents awake at night and put innocent people at risk.
“Those who treat our roads like a racetrack have no regard for the safety of others, and we will not tolerate it.
“We will continue to work closely with the Metropolitan Police to enforce the injunction, pursue offenders and take strong action against anyone who thinks the rules don't apply to them.
“Residents deserve safe streets, peaceful neighbourhoods and the confidence that action will be taken against those causing nuisance and danger. We stand firmly on the side of law-abiding residents, not the reckless minority who put lives at risk.”
Enfield Council secured the injunction in December 2025 to tackle dangerous car cruising and vehicle-related antisocial behaviour that can cause distress to local communities, create excessive noise and put other road users and pedestrians at risk. The injunction prohibits a range of activities associated with car cruising, including racing, dangerous driving, vehicle stunts, excessive revving and behaviour that causes nuisance, alarm or distress.
