Long-term foster carers celebrated for their 102 years of combined dedication

Fostering Celebration Event

Enfield’s fostering community was recognised at the Foster Carers Celebration event on 20 June, thanking carers from across the borough for their continued support, dedication and hard work.

Hosted by Enfield Council, the event brought together long-term carers who have fostered for more than 20 years each, staff members and senior leaders for their outstanding commitment.

Mayor of Enfield, Cllr Emma Supple, and a representative from Foster Carers Association, Nas Hassim, delivered speeches, applauding the long-term fostering carers for their combined 102 years of support for children and young people.

Councillor Chris Dey, Cabinet Member for Children’s Services, said, “I would like to thank the fostering community for their vital support in keeping children and young people safe and stable in their homes.

“This special event not only showed our appreciation for their contribution, but it also became a platform to reflect on how we can continue to further strengthen our fostering community.

Cllr Dey has extended his personal thanks to Cevher and Mustafa Meyzin, Malone White, Sharon and Lee Romer, and Ruhi and Abdul Rana who have dedicated more than 20 years to fostering apiece, making it possible to give children a better future in Enfield.

He added: “We want to continue celebrating the heroes of our community for opening their homes to children who need them the most. Without them, children may be placed far away from the borough, their friends and local support network.

“We are always looking for carers to join our community. With the help of our qualified staff, we guide you through the process of becoming a foster carer.”

Enfield Council is committed to provide stable and first rate foster care for children and young people in the borough. If fostering is for you, take a look at our dedicated webpage at Enfield Council.
