Enfield Council has pledged more than £42,000 to support nine local community projects through the Spacehive crowdfunding platform, as part of Crowdfund Enfield.

The Council is encouraging residents and businesses to get involved and help bring them to life.

The projects, which focus on youth services, skills, wellbeing, green spaces and support for families, were picked following assessment by a panel against local priorities.

Spacehive is a crowdfunding platform designed to help communities raise funds for projects that make a positive difference in the local area. By combining Council funding with donations from residents, charities and businesses, the approach helps put more money into Enfield’s neighbourhoods.

The projects to receive support from this first round of funding by Enfield Council are:

  • Arising Tutoring IC which wants to offer tutoring for disadvantaged pupils aged 5 to 18 in core subjects and drama, supporting those with dyslexia and special educational needs to build confidence and reach their full potential.
  • Cooking Champions' project will create a welcoming garden space from unused land, providing a peaceful, inclusive area for the community to enjoy and connect.
  • Displaced is building on the foundations laid by “UnMute: Young Mental Health Ambassadors”, creating a social media storytelling project and paid public speaking and facilitation opportunities for local young people.
  • 11th Enfield Boys’ Brigade want to refurbish the youth space at Totteridge Road Baptist Church to create a safe, vibrant place for local 11 to 18s, with new equipment and better facilities for youth activities.
  • Exodus Youth Worx UK’s project offers creative, hands-on workshops, to help young people and families understand online risks, build emotional resilience, and make confident, responsible choices in digital spaces.
  • Express Tuition Ltd’s project will offer a confidence-building programme for migrant women in Enfield, offering workshops and mentoring to boost life skills, language and employability.
  • GrowCrew CIC will develop vibrant outdoor classrooms in three Enfield schools, designed to enhance physical and mental well-being through hands-on gardening sessions.
  • 21K Digital Media will provide mental health support for young people and families in Edmonton Green, addressing anxiety, trauma and isolation with accessible community-based efforts and professional services.
  • UK Career Quest has created a community-led project helping people gain employment, build confidence, and discover new career paths.

While Enfield Council has committed a total of £42,108 in pledges, no project can receive more than 70% of its target or £5,000 from the Council. This means community support is vital to ensure these projects can go ahead. In addition to donating, residents can also support projects by volunteering their time or skills.

Cllr Ergin Erbil, Leader of Enfield Council, said: “We are proud to support these inspiring community-led projects through Spacehive. I am proud of the commitment of people across our wonderful borough who want to make a real difference where they live.

“By working together with residents, voluntary groups and local businesses we can strengthen our communities and help these projects turn great ideas into lasting benefits for our borough.”

Misha Dhanak, CEO, Spacehive, added: “These projects have been shaped by Enfield residents with a deep understanding of their area and what it needs. Community fundraising allows those ideas to move forward, while also supporting the connections that help neighbourhoods thrive. We’re excited to support this group of projects, addressing everything from green spaces to family wellbeing and services for young people.”

Residents, community groups and local businesses are encouraged to visit the Spacehive Enfield page, explore the projects currently crowdfunding and pledge support, no matter how small. Visit the Enfield project page to learn more.
