Ofsted approves the opening of two new children’s homes in Enfield

Two new children’s homes are set to officially welcome young people into safe and secure accommodation following months of renovation.

The initiative builds on Enfield Council’s pledge to ensure children in care have access to local provision that offers stability, reduces the risk of social isolation, and minimises the need for placements outside Enfield.

Both homes are registered with Ofsted to ensure the standard of the premises and the care provided meets the needs of our most vulnerable children.

Commenting on the completion, Councillor Abdul Abdullahi, Cabinet Member for Children's Services, said: “As corporate parents, we understand there are many factors leading to young people being in our care and how difficult the journey can be.

“This is why we strive to provide the highest quality of support that is tailored to each child, allowing us to deliver the right outcomes for their needs.

“Delivering these two residential homes in our borough will help us tackle a lack of local placements and the rising cost of outsourcing, which is increasing not just in Enfield but nationally as well.

“It will offer children an opportunity to continue to go to school in the borough, as well as maintain contact with their friends, family and community if it is safe for them to do so.”

Enfield Council is committed to creating a borough where children and young people in care live healthy, happy and safe lives.

The project is made possible through funding from Enfield Council’s capital programme and the homes are located in Bush Hill Park and Carterhatch wards.
