Following the riots this week, Cllr Gina Needs, has issued a further statement to reassure residents of our continuing work to keep residents safe.
Cabinet Member for Community Cohesion and Enforcement at Enfield Council, Cllr Gina Needs, said: “Enfield Council continues to work closely with the Police, partners and community leaders to monitor the local situation and plan for any potential violence and hate crime.
“We are united in our absolute commitment in trying to ensure that our borough remains safe and free from hate.
“Following a meeting of all partners working together across Enfield and Haringey we can confirm that there is no current information to indicate that there is disorder and violence planned in Enfield over the weekend.
“Please remember that there is much disinformation and misinformation circulating on social media designed to cause alarm, disruption and ultimately divide communities.
“Please do not share any unverified material you might come across as this could cause anxiety and negatively impact on our response to local developments. Follow the Metropolitan Police to be kept informed of credible intelligence of any developments.
“Please be assured that the local Police will continue to deliver increased numbers of patrols and heightened visibility in the borough over the coming days to provide reassurance and support to local communities.
“Together with our Community Safety team they are also reaching out to local Mosques and places of worship.
"We will continue to stand up against racism and division and remain united as a strong, diverse and proud borough.”
