Enfield Council has won The Revo’s award in the ‘Best Local Authority Initiative’ category for its landmark Meridian Water regeneration programme.

The award reflects the work for recently completed milestones, including the handover of its first council homes, the Enfield Construction Skills Academy, and Meridian One Community Garden.

The Revo’s award highlights public sector regeneration programmes at their very best with an emphasis on keeping local residents at the heart of its delivery.

The Edmonton community now has access to recreational and construction education facilities at the Meridian One Community Garden and Enfield Construction Skills Academy respectively. These stand shoulder-to-shoulder with completed business projects such as the UK’s first open–access factory BLOQs, Troubadour Meridian Water Studios, and the Meridian Water Train Station.

The accolade was handed to members of the Meridian Water team at The Revo’s award ceremony on 6th December.

Enfield Council is committed to improving the Upper Edmonton area. Meridian Water recently received £195 million of government funding to improve infrastructure throughout the site, which includes new public spaces, parks, and transport links. In addition, the Council was awarded in November £11.9 million of Levelling Up funding to regenerate the Angel Edmonton area.

The Leader of Enfield Council, Cllr Nesil Caliskan said,  “The Council-led regeneration of Meridian Water is helping make the neighbourhood a great place to live, with more and better homes alongside new opportunities for Edmonton residents. We are thrilled to see Meridian Water receive another award for Enfield Council’s innovative approach to public sector regeneration schemes. 2023 has been a big year for the project, with several major milestones achieved. Meridian Water is rapidly picking up pace and becoming an example to other councils on how regeneration can benefit everyone.”
