Rubbish and recycling events

Enfield Give and Take events

Give and Take events are a great way to give a new home to your unwanted household items. They are like a bring-and-buy sale but with no money involved. You can donate unwanted items and take away useful things from other people, all for free.

The Waste and Recycling team at Enfield Council are organising these events to encourage residents to waste less and save money which is important for many in this time of the cost-of-living crisis.

Reuse is the next best option to not creating any waste in the first place. Reuse means you’ll be reducing your waste and helping someone else pick up something useful at no cost.

Give and Take events are a great way to extend the life of good household items which might otherwise have gone into the waste stream.

What we accept and how it works

People bring all kinds of things to Give and Take days - books, photo frames, cups, clothing, kids’ uniforms, shoes, board games and toys.

During each event, residents are able to bring along their donations and these are then logged by our team before being offered, for free to other residents.

We only accept items which are clean and in a good undamaged condition.

We can accept the following items:

The Give and Take events that we hosted in January 2024 were very successful and we got a very positive response from residents both on site and on social media. Due to the high demand from residents for more such events, we are planning to hold Give and Take events throughout the year. Look out for information on dates and venues on the council’s social media platforms (Facebook and Twitter), and posters in Enfield libraries.
