Internet access and computer hire
Enfield libraries provide self-service public access to the internet and Microsoft software applications (Word, Power Point, Excel, Access and Publisher). PC use is free for the first 60 minutes each day.
Using our computers also gives you access to printing facilities (charges may apply) as well as access to all our electronic resources, some of which are accessible from home with library membership.
We also provide free access to document scanners.
Free Wi-Fi is available in all our libraries where you are welcome to use personal laptops and other mobile devices.

Enfield libraries offer a self-service booking system. You need your library membership card and PIN. You can book a one-hour session or, if a computer is available, you can use it straight away. You can also book up to a week in advance. The computers are turned on 15 minutes after the library opens and turned off 15 minutes before the library closes.

Support
Depending on staff availability we can offer one-off introductory sessions on:
- using the internet, setting up an email account and computer skills with Learn My Way
- using a scanner
- using the family history database Ancestry (only available in our Local Studies and Archives)
Cost: £5.60 (or a concessionary rate of £2.80) per hour. All sessions have to be booked in advance.
Enfield Libraries can help you access our services online.
Come in to use the internet for free for up to one hour per day. You can do a number of things, including check bin collection days, report problems and submit online applications. You will need a library card to use the computers.
If you need help, a member of library staff or a library volunteer will be happy to give you a one-to-one supported session to get you to the right place on the website, give you guidance on how to complete an online form or help you set up an email account. To avoid disappointment, book your supported session in advance by telephoning the hub library you would like to visit.
For help with learning how to use computers, you can book a free one-hour, one-to-one session at any of the following hub libraries:
- Edmonton Green Library
- Enfield Town Library
- Ordnance Unity Centre Library
- Palmers Green Library

If you have books to renew or reserve and it’s not convenient for you to visit a library, you can also do this using our online catalogue. You can also use the Digital library, which gives you access to resources for free home study.
Community learner programme
Our community learning programme is built around 2 free web-based learning resources that have almost 100 courses and study aids. Community learning maximises the choice of courses available to you and enables you to access them from home or at any Enfield library.
Learn My Way also offers free introductory sessions that provide a grounding in how to use a computer, keyboard, mouse and the Internet. Learn My Way is the self-tuition IT programme that we use to help people get started with IT. It has over 25 courses to choose from. By registering with Learn My Way you will be registering with E-Government, so it's important to remember your username and password. You will need these if you need to access other E-Government services, such as renewing passports or driving licences online. You can register with Learn My Way from home or at any Enfield library.
Alison is a provider of free online diploma and certificate courses in a range of subjects, including:
- Word
- Excel

The community learner card is available to anyone aged 16 and over and entitles you to an extra 2 free hours of Internet use per day. This card is in addition to your Enfield library card.
The extra 2 hours are to be used for job-related activities or our online learning resources, including:
- Learn My Way

If you want to borrow items, you will need to use your Enfield library card.
To apply for the community learner card, speak to a member of staff at your nearest hub library.
Help from library staff
A one to one staff introductory session is available at all libraries. This hour session is designed specifically to help you register with Learn My Way and to give you a flavour of the programme. This first introductory session is free.
If you require extra staff sessions with Learn My Way it will cost £5 per hour (£2.50 concessions per hour). Help is only available with Learn My Way and not Alison.
