Activities and events
Enfield libraries have a huge range of resources and events for children. We run a variety of different activities, including:
- reading groups
- after school and holiday activities
- author visits
- chess and Lego clubs
- weekly stories
- rhyme-and-play sessions for very young children
Every year we encourage children to participate in a summer reading challenge, which encourages them to develop a love of reading.
An interactive games table is available at Palmers Green Library, and giant games are available to borrow on request from Enfield Town Library to use on the library green.
Bookstart gives free books to every child in England and Wales at two key stages before school. As well as free packs for children with additional needs, tips and guidance on reading together, resources and activities, and much more. As the world's first national book-gifting programme, Bookstart aims to encourage a love of books, stories and rhymes in children from as young an age as possible.
You can collect your free Bookstart pack in our hub libraries, Edmonton Green Library, Enfield Town Library, Ordnance Unity Centre Library and Palmers Green Library. There are two packs, for children under twelve months old and for those aged three to four years old.
Children must be signed up to the library service, and have not received a pack already.
