Information for parents

Activities and events

Enfield libraries have a huge range of resources and events for children. We run a variety of different activities, including:

Every year we encourage children to participate in a summer reading challenge, which encourages them to develop a love of reading.

Contact your local library hub or follow us on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram for details of upcoming activities and events.

An interactive games table is available at Palmers Green Library, and giant games are available to borrow on request from Enfield Town Library to use on the library green.

Joining the library

Children can sign up with their parents. They can borrow children's items, and get 6 pages printed free for their homework. With parental permission, they can use the computers. For more information, see our joining the library page.

Bookstart

Bookstart gives free books to every child in England and Wales at 2 key stages before school. As well as free packs for children with additional needs, tips and guidance on reading together, resources and activities, and much more. As the world's first national book-gifting programme, Bookstart aims to encourage a love of books, stories and rhymes in children from as young an age as possible.

You can collect your free Bookstart pack in our hub libraries, Edmonton Green Library, Enfield Town Library, Ordnance Unity Centre Library and Palmers Green Library. There are 2 packs, for children under 12 months old and for those aged 3 to 4 years old.

Children must be signed up to the library service, and have not received a pack already.
