Black History Month will be celebrated across Enfield with a variety of events. This year’s theme is “Standing Firm in Power and Pride.” It honours the strength, courage, and progress of Black communities around the world. The theme also recognises the important contributions of Black leaders, activists, and pioneers who have shaped history, while looking ahead to a future of unity and growth. The theme focuses on two main ideas - power and pride.
Power
Power is about leadership, influence, and the ability to make positive change. It celebrates those who have led important movements or broken barriers in areas like politics, business, education, and the arts. It reminds us that real power comes from working together with courage and determination to build a fairer future.
Pride
Pride is about culture, heritage, and celebrating Black excellence. It lives in music, art, and stories passed down through generations. Pride means knowing your roots, embracing your history, and stepping into the future with confidence. It shows the beauty, strength, and unique contributions of Black culture to the world.
The Dugdale Arts Centre will lead the public celebrations for the London Borough of Enfield. A full list of events will be shared later this year. We’ll also include other events happening across the borough on this page. If you’re organising an event and want it listed, send the details to wesley.pemberton@enfield.gov.uk.
If you’re looking for funding for your project and need advice and support, see introduction to creative grant funding.
We’ll also post any special Black History Month grant opportunities on this page.
