Investing in Enfield's Digital Future
Good digital connectivity is essential for a strong and successful local economy. That's why Enfield Council is working to improve broadband and mobile coverage across the borough.
We want residents, businesses and communities to have access to reliable, high-quality digital services and technology. To achieve this, we are creating the right conditions for investment in Enfield's digital infrastructure.
We work closely with telecommunications providers to encourage investment, understand their needs and help remove barriers to improving connectivity across the borough.
Our progress so far
We have already made significant progress in improving digital connectivity in Enfield, including:
- increasing full fibre broadband coverage from 32.34% in July 2024 to 69.47% in July 2026
- improving collaboration across Council departments to tackle digital connectivity challenges and opportunities
- introducing a non-exclusive MDU Wayleave Agreement to help social housing residents access full fibre broadband
- including digital connectivity in planning policies and development processes
- taking part in a planning pre-application pilot to support better digital infrastructure
- creating a Digital Champion role to make it easier for telecommunications providers to work with the Council
- working with Local London partners to lobby government for investment in areas with poor digital connectivity
- committing to work with mobile network operators to develop and deliver a Small Cell Strategy by the end of 2026
