Spotlight story

Grace at a sewing machine at a workshop

Grace’s sewing studio – stitching communities together!

What started as a simple chat at Edmonton Green turned into something extraordinary. When James (the manager), met Grace, a talented woman with a lifelong love for sewing, he discovered her passion for sharing skills and connecting generations.

Recognising her vision, James introduced Grace to Dr Margaret Farley, who delivered the Brotherhood in Business programme earlier this year. With their guidance and encouragement, Grace officially launched Grace’s Sewing Studio CIC!

But the story didn’t stop there. A few months later, Grace reconnected with Chris McCay from NYCC, sparking a new collaboration.

With determination and creativity, Grace secured £19,850 in funding to run sewing workshops that bring people together, foster creativity, and build confidence across generations.

Words from Grace

“Get to know your neighbour, know who’s who in your community. A simple hello can open doors and create awareness. Together, we’re building stronger networks, one stitch at a time.”
