Enfield Council is committed to becoming a carbon-neutral authority by 2030. This commitment is set out in our Climate Action Plan, published in 2020. The plan also includes a target for the whole borough to be carbon neutral by 2040. It outlines action being taken across council buildings, including using green energy and supporting residents to create a more sustainable borough.
As part of the Climate Action Plan, we are improving the energy efficiency of council homes through the Warm Homes programme. The programme aims to reduce residents’ energy bills, provide warmer and healthier homes, and reduce carbon emissions.
The programme is funded through the Warm Homes: Social Housing Fund (WH:SHF) and delivered through a strategic partnership, led by Warmer Homes London.
Based on an initial home assessment, recommended improvements may include insulation, solar panels and more efficient heating systems. We cannot confirm which improvements may be suitable for your home until a home assessment has been carried out.
Making your home warmer
Enfield Council is improving council homes through our Retrofit Enfield programme, funded by the Government's Warm Homes initiative. The programme aims to make homes warmer, healthier and more energy efficient, while reducing the risk of damp and mould.
What is a retrofit assessment?
Before any improvements can be planned, a trained assessor will visit your home to carry out a survey. This helps us understand the condition of your your home and identify the most suitable improvements.
The assessment may include:
- checking insulation, ventilation and heat loss
- reviewing heating and hot water systems
- identifying any damp, mould or condensation issues
- taking measurements and photos (with your permission)
- discussing any comfort or access requirements
The visit will usually take 60 to 90 minutes.
How you can help
If your home is selected, we will contact you to arrange an appointment. Please:
- provide access to key areas such as radiators, windows, boiler cupboards and loft hatches
- tell us about any cold spots, draughts, damp or mould issues
- let us know about any access requirements or pets
What happens next?
After the assessment, specialists will review the findings and recommend any suitable improvements. If your home is selected for works, we will contact you with further details and proposed dates.
