Electric meter and heating upgrade

Enfield Council is improving electricity meters, cabling and electric heating in eligible council homes. This work is starting with low-rise flats to make homes safer, meet current standards and reduce energy bills for tenants and leaseholders. We are using funding from the government’s Warm Homes: Social Housing Fund to improve heating systems and help lower bills further.

This work also supports future plans to install shared solar panels on rooftops, benefitting all residents in the block.

Residents will need to switch their energy supply to Emergent Energy to benefit from lower tariff rates and greener electricity. Typically, residents may save around 15% compared with the standard Ofgem price cap.

What happens next

If your home is eligible, you will receive a letter from Enfield Council and the contractor, PiLON, inviting you to book an assessment.

The assessment has 2 parts:

Where possible, both assessments will take place on the same day, one after the other. Together, they should take about 2 hours.

After the assessments, PiLON will explain what work is needed and contact you to arrange an installation appointment. Once the appointment is confirmed, PiLON engineers will carry out the work. You can ask the engineers questions about the project or the work in your home at any time.

Using the Warm Homes: Social Housing Fund (WH:SHF), we will cover the cost of the installation.

After the installation, you will receive a feedback form. You can use it to share any comments or concerns so we can review them and offer support if needed.
