Staff are always needed to help at the polling stations (Presiding Officers and Polls Clerks), and to count the votes, (Count Assistants and Supervisors).

How to apply

If your application is successful, we will add your details to the staffing database and send you an email link to create a Mobile Election App account. This is the account we use for all correspondence relating to your elections employment.

Eligibility
You will have to show you are entitled to work in the UK. You will need to provide one of the following:
- A valid passport
- A full birth certificate issued in the UK, Channel Islands, Isle of Man or Ireland, plus an official document giving your permanent National Insurance number
- A residence permit, registration certificate or document showing you are entitled to live in the UK permanently

We are recruiting
Role: Ballot Box Preparation Assistant
The Electoral Services team are looking for organised, dedicated, and flexible individuals to join them in preparation for all upcoming future elections.
Your role will be crucial. You will support the Electoral Services team to make sure all paperwork and stationery are prepared and ready for collection by our appointed Presiding Officers prior to polling day.
This role requires that preparations begin up to three months prior to polling day.
Candidates are expected to be available for the duration of this period. Elections can be called at short notice – candidates will need to be available all year round.
This is a fantastic opportunity to contribute to the democratic process.

Eligibility:
- You must be 18 years of age
- If you are not employed by London Borough of Enfield, you will need to provide a copy of your passport or relevant supporting documentation which confirms your entitlement to work in the UK
- If you are registered unemployed, you are advised to consult your local unemployment benefits office before you accept any offer of employment we may make you
- Elections staff must not work on behalf of a candidate during an election campaign, nor be related to any prospective candidate
Hourly rate and method of payment
The hourly rate for this role will be £18.00.
You will be paid at the end of the election period, by BACs payment into your bank account.
