Investing in education, sustainability and community wellbeing
Location – Churchbury Lane, Enfield, EN1 3HQ.
See the location for Chace Community School on Google Maps.
Major improvements are currently underway at Chace Community School. The Department for Education is funding the rebuild through its Schools Rebuilding Programme which is being delivered in partnership with Enfield Council and the school.
The brand-new three-storey school building will have modern, refurbished specialist classrooms which will be more energy-efficient. There will be a dedicated sports block and improved outdoor facilities and landscaping.
This project supports our priorities.
The redevelopment will deliver a welcoming, safe, and energy-efficient environment with design features that enhance acoustics and natural lighting. It represents a significant investment in modern facilities for Enfield pupils and the community and will provide:
- modern classrooms and purpose-built teaching paces
- refurbished spaces for art, drama, dining, and sixth form
- covered outdoor areas for science, Duke of Edinburgh training, and dining
- a separate sports block next to the playing fields
- a full-size football pitch and a Multi-Use Games Area (MUGA)
- more green space and better sports facilities
- a quiet garden for students, a memorial tree for staff, and protected trees around the site
- improved outdoor areas for PE and student wellbeing
Headteacher Tanya Douglas says, "Our vision at Chace Community School is to provide our young people with an education of excellence that will change their lives and inspire them to be the leaders of tomorrow. We are excited about our future and the amazing opportunities our new building will provide in helping us to realise this vision".

Benefits for the community
The new facilities will be open to the community outside school hours. Use of the sports areas and specialist teaching spaces by the wider community will help support local engagement, learning and well-being. The project encourages partnerships between the school, council, and local groups.
Sustainability and Net Zero goals
The rebuild supports Enfield Council’s Climate Action Plan. It will:
- replace old buildings with low-carbon, energy-efficient ones
- be ready to connect to the Energetik Heat Network in the future
- include solar panels to cut down on fossil fuel use
- add green spaces to support biodiverisity, encourage wildlife and promote wellbeing
- use eco-friendly building methods to reduce environmental impact
