Families experiencing sleep challenges can be directed to the SDC Sleep Service drop-in, or considered for referral to the intensive SDC Sleep Service.

SDC Cheviots Sleep Service: Drop-in
The Cheviots Sleep Service drop-in sessions offer:
- the opportunity to talk to sleep practitioners about any sleep challenges your child or young person may be experiencing
- advice and strategies to support better sleep
- the chance to meet and talk to other parents and carers
- an introduction to different techniques you can try, such as bedtime routines, daytime naps, comfort objects, and adjusting bedtime earlier or later
When sessions take place
Drop-in sessions are held:
- monthly on the first Tuesday of the month
- term time only
- 10am to 12pm

Intensive Sleep Service
This service supports children and families who may benefit from more intensive intervention for significant sleep difficulties.
Families are referred by a professional and will access a 12-week intensive sleep intervention. This includes structured advice on:
- sleep routines
- sleep hygiene
- identifying barriers to sleep
- accessing additional support where appropriate
Eligibility criteria
The intensive pathway is only available to families known to the following SDC teams:
- Cheviots Social Workers
- Early Intervention Support Service – Specialist Keyworkers
- Early Intervention Support Service – Pre-School Support Team
- Cheviots Short Break and Family Support Teams
