What is the Enfield disability register?
The Disabled Children’s Register is a confidential list of names and basic information about children and young people with disabilities or complex needs.
All local authorities have a duty under the Children Act 1989 required to establish a register of children and young people with a disability in the area.
Registration is entirely voluntary and can be done by a parent of a disabled child or a disabled young person themselves.
How will the register be used?
The Disabled Children’s Register will:
- operate as a contact list to provide targeted information about holiday and afterschool activities, workshops and relevant events such as transition into adulthood events
- provide a means for more parents and carers to be consulted
- help us identify and plan for the needs of children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities in Enfield
- inform how we commission services
How to sign up to the register
Parents or young people can sign-up to the register by completing the Disabled Children’s Registration Form.
