If you want to educate your child at home, you must write to their headteacher to ask for their name to be removed from the school roll.
You will then be sent our guidance on home education and a form to complete about the education you plan to provide for your child.
An advisory teacher will contact you to arrange a meeting. They will discuss your education programme and your child's long-term education plans. After the meeting, they will write a report and send you a copy.
They will also visit annually to check that:
- the education programme is suitable for your child's age, aptitude and ability
- your child is making progress
Enfield Council will not direct your child's learning or provide equipment, books or other resources. Our role is to assess whether the home education you provide for your child is suitable and effective.
