You agree to pay a non-refundable booking fee per person, for each appointment you book.
You will book your appointment via the council website at the end of the booking process.
You must both give notice in person.
You must arrive on time for your appointment. In the event you or your partner are late or do not attend, no refund will be made.
We will not accept liability for any delay or loss caused by your late or non-arrival.
You will provide all the necessary documents. At the time of booking your appointment, you have checked what documents are needed and have the necessary paperwork to give notice, such as proof of your identity and nationality, residency, and that you are free to marry.
You must supply valid share codes to allow immigration status checks, if appropriate. If you cannot supply a valid share code, you understand your notices may be referred to the Home Office, or we may have to end your appointment and no refund will be made.
If you arrive without the correct original documents, share codes and/or photographs, then you will not be seen, and no refund will be made.
We will not accept liability for any loss caused by you not providing the required documents, share codes or photographs at your appointment.
You will be asked a series of questions at your notice appointment. If you are not able to answer these questions or refuse to answer the questions, we may have to end your appointment and no refund will be made.
If either partner cannot speak English and you do not provide a translator, we may have to end your appointment and no refund will be made. You and your partner are not permitted to translate for each other.
If you have been divorced, had your marriage or civil partnership annulled or have a dissolution, you agree to provide all required documents. If your divorce, annulment, or dissolution was outside the British Isles, additional fees will apply, and an English translation of the documents will be required.
You know the venue where you wish to marry or form your civil partnership.
You have checked that your chosen venue has a valid premises licence for the purpose of marriage or civil partnership.
For religious marriages, you know that the building or church has a relevant permit for legal marriage and/or civil partnership, and you or your partner meet residential or ecclesiastical conditions to give notice. If you cannot meet the conditions to marry in your chosen religious building or church, no refund will be made.
Notices are venue specific, and the venue cannot be changed after you have signed the declaration.
If you wish to change your venue after giving notice, then fresh notices will be required. You will also have to pay another booking fee.
You intend to marry or form your civil partnership within the next 12 months.
You are aware that a minimum of 30 days before the ceremony or civil partnership formation is required (or 72 days, if either of you are subject to Home Office referral).
You and your partner are over 18 years old.
You both meet the residency requirements. You must have lived in Enfield for the preceding 9 days before your appointment and can produce one of the accepted documents as evidence of residency. However, if you are subject to immigration control you must give notice together in one district of residence.
If you do not live in Enfield but book an appointment anyway, no refund will be made.
If you move away from Enfield before giving notice, your qualifying residential period will be broken and you will need to fulfil the residency requirement again.
If the registrar cannot proceed with your appointment for any reason, no refund will be made.
Cancelling and rescheduling your appointment
Your booking fee is non-refundable unless you cancel at least 10 working days prior to your appointment. This does not include weekends and bank holidays. If you wish to cancel your appointment, you must email register.office@enfield.gov.uk.
Refund requests made to our customer service centre will not be processed.
You may reschedule an upcoming appointment once (subject to availability) and you must provide at least 1 working day's notice. No refund will be made if you wish to move your appointment a second time. You will need to book a new appointment and pay booking fees again.
Costs for your notice
The booking fee shall be credited towards the fee for your notice. You will have to pay the difference between the booking fee and the full cost of your appointment. For example, additional fees will apply if your notices are referred to the Home Office or you have been divorced outside the British Isles. Payment will be made at the appointment with a debit or credit card.
If you cannot pay for any additional fees requested, your notice(s) will be cancelled, and no refund of your booking fee will be made.
If there is a lower difference between the booking fee paid and the cost of your notice, then no refund will be made.
If you need to amend your notice after signing it, an amendment fee will apply for every amendment you make.
