Learning Outcomes:
By the end of the course participants will be able to:
* Increase confidence and ability to safeguard children where parental substance misuse is present
* Understand the short- and long-term effects of parental substance misuse on children and young people
* Understand the service offer for Insight Enfield Sort IT and the referral process
* Recognize new drug trends, including vaping (with and without cannabis), synthetic opioids, and the boroughwide response
* Understand the effects of substance misuse on the physical and mental health of Adults and Young People
* Develop awareness of drugs and alcohol, with a focus on synthetic opioids
* Learn how to approach and communicate effectively with people who use substances, promoting change (including the role of Peer Mentors), and moving clients from pre-contemplation to contemplation
* Make effective referrals to Enable, incorporating MECC principles and the No Wrong Door approach
* Address stigma and deliver interventions that are inclusive and respectful of diverse backgrounds
* Apply crisis management and overdose response techniques, including naloxone administration for opioid misuse
