EDUCATION & POLICE - Gaming and Gambling Awareness and Harm Prevention Workshop

PLEASE NOTE THIS TRAINING IS DESIGNED FOR EDUCATION & POLICE COLLEAGUES ONLY:

Our 3-hour interactive online training session includes several case studies compiled with experts by experience. Topics include:

  • How young people are increasingly exposed to gaming and gambling harm.
  • The influence of advertising, particularly around sporting events.
  • the role of social media, in game purchases, loot boxes and Esports.
  • Decision making ability in young adults and motivation theories for gaming.
  • Guilt shame and stigma.
  • Signs of harm, conversations, planning and signposting.

Learning outcomes:

  • Improve your knowledge of gaming, gambling, and the associated harms
  • Be able to identify factors which increase the vulnerability of CYP to gaming and/or gambling harms
  • Develop the skills to enable you to have meaningful conversations about gaming and gambling
  • Be able to risk assess participation and know how and when to respond
  • Know where to access available resources and signpost CYP
