Accompanying SEND training

In addition to the above, West Lea school will provide a specific training session on how to teach the curriculum to children with SEND and the best way to deliver the lessons. This is to enable teachers to deliver the lessons in a SEND friendly way:

  • To create an understanding of the types of difficulties children and young people with special educational needs may experience.
  • To understand what is meant by communication difficulties and to know the difference between receptive and expressive language
  • To learn strategies for effectively communicating with children and young people with special educational needs including the use of visuals and Comic Strip Conversations
