A new Controlled Parking Zone will be introduced around Tottenham Hotspur’s stadium ahead of the new football season.
The move, by Enfield Council, is to ensure residents living near the ground are not inconvenienced by thousands of fans, visiting the 61,000 seater stadium, parking their cars in residential roads.
The Controlled Parking Zone will operate from noon to 9pm when there are matches or events at the stadium and the restrictions are expected to come into force between 30 and 40 times a year.
Enfield Council’s Leader, Cllr Nesil Caliskan, said: “We are aware that residents living near the Spurs ground have been unhappy in the past about fans parking in their road on match days and we have developed a solution that we think will prevent that from happening in the future.
“Enfield Council listened to their concerns and we have decided to introduce these parking restrictions to minimise the impact of thousands of people trying to park their cars on residential roads around the Tottenham Hotspur stadium on match and event days.
“The Council has been working closely with the club, and we are confident that the restrictions that will be put in place will effectively prevent fans from parking in residential streets.”
Residents living in the zone will receive a free permit for each vehicle registered at their address. Residents will also be able to purchase permits for their visitors and special permits will be available for people requiring regular care.
Work on implementing the zone will start in June and Enfield Council will keep the scheme under review once implemented so that any necessary changes can be made.
