Residents and businesses are invited to join Cllr Nesil Caliskan to discuss a future vision for Enfield Town.
The next leg of the Leader of Enfield Council’s Town Tours on 15 September, will include an open discussion about the successful application by Enfield Council for £6 million from the Liveable Neighbourhoods Fund and how the money should be spent.
The Mayor of London / Transport for London funding will go towards the creation of new and improved public spaces, safer and more accessible pedestrianised areas and a link to Enfield’s existing cycle network.
These improvements will go hand-in-hand with other measures designed to attract new investment into the town centre and support existing businesses.
Enfield Council’s Leader, Cllr Nesil Caliskan, said: “In order to make the change to improve and rejuvenate Enfield, we are looking for the views of businesses and residents to help us shape plans for Enfield Town.
“Enfield Town is on the cusp of undergoing an exciting transformation and we need those who live, work and study in the area to contribute to making these ideas a reality.”
Attendees at the meeting, which will take place at the Dugdale Centre between 1 and 3pm on Sunday 15 September, will be invited to discuss a number of topics including:
- how can parks and public spaces in Enfield Town be improved?
- how can more areas for walking be created?
- how can people be encouraged to spend more time in Enfield Town?
Residents and businesses who are unable to join the Leader on 15 September, can contribute their ideas at letstalk.enfield.gov.uk from the same date.

Earlier this year, Cllr Caliskan met with Enfield Town Traders’ Association to discuss their ideas and encourage a discussion on how the Council can help to support their businesses. Broader investment in Enfield Town has already begun with Deutsche Asset Management acquiring Palace Gardens Shopping Centre in 2018, on top of their previous acquisition of Palace Exchange Shopping Centre.
Following on from the Enfield Town meeting, the Leader will next be in Angel Edmonton, where a number of exciting opportunities will be discussed including an application for further funding to encourage walking, cycling and the use of public transport; the landmark Meridian Water project where 10,000 homes will be built; and the regeneration of Joyce Avenue and Snell’s Park estates.
