Thousands of shops will be opening this week with the support of Enfield Council following nearly three months of enforced lock-down.
Enfield Council has sent 3,000 businesses ‘welcome packs’ that will assist them to open safely, take care of their staff and customers and help them on the road to recovery.
Enfield Council’s Leader, Cllr Nesil Caliskan, said: “I would like to personally thank those essential businesses who have played a pivotal role in supporting residents during the crisis and welcome back other businesses as they take the first tentative steps to open doors to customers again. With our assistance, we hope to see lots of businesses operating safely and successfully.”
The Council has launched the Enjoy Enfield Safely campaign, which will deliver advice and support to businesses as they reopen and promote shopping locally to residents. Toolkits and advice for these businesses can be found online at www.enfield.gov.uk/covid19businesses.
Cllr Caliskan will also be hosting a number of webinars where business owners can submit questions and queries to the Leader and Enfield Council’s Town Centres team. For more details, email towncentres@enfield.gov.uk.
Cllr Caliskan added: “Our aim is to make business owners, their staff and customers feel confident to return to our town centres while being mindful of public health and safety precautions. We know many people still feel nervous about venturing out but with appropriate measures in place, we can support our local economy safely and confidently.”
Enfield Council has already introduced measures to make further space for pedestrians who will need to keep their distance from other people. Signs will be going up across town centres and along high streets to remind people how to enjoy the area safely.
People are also encouraged, where possible, to avoid using public transport for short journeys and during peak travel times. With over 19 miles of high-quality cycle routes already available, cycling is a good option for those who need to get around the borough. Advice on the easing of lockdown and getting out and about safely can also be found at www.enfield.gov.uk/covid19.
Further support is also being offered to local businesses and shoppers with the upcoming launch of ShopAppy Enfield. The online market place will allow shoppers to get essential goods from Enfield retailers delivered directly to their front doors.
