Enfield Council lauded for anti-counterfeiting project

Dedicated officers in Enfield Council’s Trading Standards team have been highly commended for their work in stopping fake jewellery being sold in the borough.

The team were recognised in the Departmental Excellence in Anti-Counterfeiting Enforcement category at the Anti-Counterfeiting Group (ACG)  Awards for Excellence in Anti-Counterfeiting 2019 on 12 June.

The commendation related to an operation the Council carried out in Enfield’s town centres and markets after the team discovered counterfeit gold jewellery relating to car, sport and fashion brands being sold in jewellers.

Enfield Council’s Cabinet Member for Licensing and Regulatory Services, Cllr George Savva, said: “Our Trading Standards team is hard working, effective and a credit to the Council. They work tirelessly to protect consumers and businesses from fake, dangerous and illegal products that have no place in the borough’s shops and market stalls.

“We are committed to ensuring our businesses operate to the highest ethical and legal standards and will take appropriate action wherever necessary to ensure that is the case.”
