Dugdale Centre brings live entertainment to Library Green in Enfield

Enfield Council is inviting residents to a week-long culture festival on Library Green in Enfield Town from Monday 31 May to Sunday 6 June.

The Dugdale Centre is currently serving the community as a COVID-19 vaccination centre but its determination to bring great arts and culture to the borough is shown in this new festival, Dugdale on the Green, thanks to funding from the Culture Recovery Fund.

Enfield Town will be alive this half term with amazing experiences. Residents and visitors will have the opportunity to see giant stilt puppets, watch balloon artists in action, meet Sparky the Robot, and marvel at the Black Eagles, a troupe of totally stunning acrobats from Tanzania who are now based in the UK.

There is also plenty of talent from Enfield in the spotlight. Beloved Dugdale regular pianist Gwen Lee returns, and Natalie from Magic If Theatre will be joining the line-up on 2 June at 12 noon.

Natalie appeared on ITV’s The Voice last year and has since collaborated with established artists. Her music has been played on BBC radio and she has performed in Monaco and to the President of Kazakhstan.

Amongst the packed schedule of local performers there will be visiting street theatre acts including the Cloud Travellers with two enchanting puppet characters called Nimbus and Cumulus.

Calvos, an elegant and unique walkabout act of graceful contact juggling and statuesque stilt walking will also entertain the crowds.

The award-winning sustainable café, EnFood, will be open throughout serving fabulous freshly made food using local produce, including from the borough’s Forty Hall.

Cllr Ian Barnes, Deputy Leader of Enfield Council, said: “We are delighted to welcome such a wide-range of cultural artists to Enfield for Dugdale on the Green. It’s fantastic to see live entertainment return to the borough after such a tough year. We are very grateful to the Culture Recovery Fund which has enabled us to offer all events free of charge and to provide such a great opportunity to show off the richness of Enfield’s cultural talent.

“I hope that people from across the borough will explore the programme of entertainment and join us for what promises to be a spectacular series of theatrical, artistic and cultural events that are aimed at all of the family.”

All events are free and no advance booking or ticket is required for any of the free events that will take place at Library Green (outside Enfield Town Library), 66 Church Street, Enfield EN2 6AX.
