Enfield Council has taken delivery of 36 new state of the art 26 tonne refuse vehicles to enable more economic and efficient refuse and recycling collection.
The Council estimates that a substantial proportion of the £5 million cost of purchasing the 36 Vehicles will be saved through lower fuel and maintenance costs, the new vehicles being more fuel efficient than the existing fleet. They will be used for both residential and business refuse collections and residential recycling collections.
Enfield Council's Cabinet Member for Environment, Cllr Guney Dogan, paid a visit to the Morson Road depot to take a look at the new fleet.
He said: "We are committed to providing a first rate refuse and recycling service and our new vehicles will enable us to do this more quickly and efficiently than ever before.
"They will also enable us to make significant savings on our fuel and maintenance costs which will enable us to divert that money into other areas of our operations."
