Remembrance Sunday commemorations confirmed

Poppy wreaths

Parades and memorial services to commemorate Remembrance Sunday in the borough have been confirmed by Enfield Council.

Residents are being invited to three parades and wreath laying events on Sunday 8 November at Edmonton Green War Memorial, Enfield Town War Memorial and St Andrew’s Church in Southgate.

The events will recognise the sacrifices of those who fought and gave their lives for their country in the two World Wars and more recent world conflicts.

Cllr Andrew Thorp, Cabinet Member for Communications and Customer Services and Armed Forces Champion at Enfield Council, said: “Remembrance Sunday is of paramount importance as it honours veterans who have made the ultimate sacrifice for their country.

“I’d like to invite all residents to join us at the services and wreath laying that have been organised in Edmonton Green, Enfield Town and Southgate, to welcome the Royal British Legion, our soldiers, young and old, who will be remembering those who have lost their lives on this significant day of remembrance.

“We will remember them.”
