Cllr Emma Supple, Mayor of Enfield, has chosen three charities she will support during her mayoral year.
The mayor traditionally picks a charity or selection of charities to support during their term. Cllr Supple’s charities are:
Insight Enfield - SORT IT! is a charity commissioned by Enfield Council to deliver substance misuse recovery services for young people under the age of 25. It provides advice and support to parents and the children of parents affected by parental substance misuse.
The organisation was selected because of its work supporting young people to make positive life choices and improve their wellbeing, where the focus is on addiction, gambling, alcohol and drug abuse.
Cllr Supple was particularly inspired after visiting Chace Community School in Enfield, where Year 9 students had a voice by researching local charities and presenting the reasons why they believed they deserved support.
One to One Enfield supports autistic adults and people with learning disabilities to live independently, build confidence and participate fully in community life.
The charity places lived experience at the heart of its work, empowering people to have a voice and play an active role within their community.
Cllr Supple was delighted to recently attend a Sing Out choir summer performance at Enfield Baptist Church and see the enthusiasm, participation and collaboration.
Whitewebbs Museum (Enfield and District Veteran Vehicle Trust) is owned and operated by the Enfield and District Veteran Vehicle Trust and is housed in a Victorian water pumping station built in 1898.
Run entirely by dedicated volunteers and receiving no National Lottery or Council funding, it preserves Enfield’s engineering and transport heritage for future generations.
Cllr Supple visited the museum with her Brownies pack and had a wonderful informative day learning about vehicles across the age. The museum houses artefacts including toys and tells the story of the military history of Enfield.
Whitewebbs Museum supports many activities across the borough including the Enfield Christmas Parade of Lights event and their pageant.
Cllr Emma Supple, Mayor of Enfield, said: “Following careful consideration and a review of several worthwhile charities across the borough, I am delighted to announce three charities I’ve selected to support that will benefit from the Mayor of Enfield’s Appeal Fund during my mayoral year.
“Each charity reflects a different aspect of life in Enfield and demonstrates a strong commitment to supporting local people and strengthening our community, while recognising the positive impact they have on residents in the borough.
“I look forward to working closely with and collaborating with patrons and fundraisers from the charities, in positive ways to engage and learn and raise awareness of their magnificent work.”

If a donor is a UK taxpayer, they can tick the Gift Aid box on the online donation form.
Gift Aid is a government opt-in scheme that allows charities to reclaim basic-rate tax on donations made by eligible taxpayers. It adds an extra 25p to every £1 donated at no extra cost to the donor.
