A new school for children with complex needs is set to open in Enfield, following approval from the Department for Education.
The Meadow School, to be run by SEARCH Academy Trust, will provide specialised education and tailored support to 96 children with complex needs, aged 4 to 11, strengthening and delivering on Enfield Council’s SEND Partnership Strategy.
In collaboration between the Council and SEARCH Education Trust, this new venture will create a nurturing environment to meet the needs of local children in Enfield, while addressing the rising need for special schools.
The school will offer a range of subjects and learning experiences to cater to the diverse needs and interests of its children, so every lesson remains fun and exciting. To ensure every child receives individual support, staff will be highly trained to work collaboratively and deliver personalised support.
The new school will not only focus on academic success but also on supporting children’s social and emotional wellbeing, helping them to form positive relationships and become more independent.
Councillor Abdul Abdullahi, Cabinet Member for Children’s Services at Enfield Council, said: “As a Council, we recognise the increasing need for SEND provision. Therefore, this announcement is a huge win for our children with complex needs in Enfield.
“Our vision is for all our children and young people to have high aspirations and to achieve positive outcomes regardless of their background and abilities.
“With SEARCH Education Trust, we believe the new school will deliver exceptional educational provision and create an inclusive, stimulating and supportive environment that will help each child to reach their full potential.”
Enfield Council is committed to identifying needs early and providing the right support to increase the chances of future success.
Work will begin in the coming months to develop designs and a construction programme for the new school. To stay up to date with announcements, sign-up to Enfield Council’s e-newsletter.
