Construction of Meridian One A is now complete and the final residents are moving in, marking one of the most significant milestones in Enfield Council’s regeneration of Meridian Water.
The finished phase delivers 301 high quality new homes in Edmonton, establishing the first fully completed residential neighbourhood within the flagship development.
Meridian One A forms part of Meridian One, the first phase of the council led Meridian Water regeneration.
The council and its partners - homebuilder Vistry and registered affordable housing provider Sage Homes - have delivered a complete residential development that is already home to hundreds of Enfield residents and helping to establish a new neighbourhood in Edmonton.
To mark the completion, the Leader of Enfield Council met a resident moving into the final homes, Mr Molla from Darter House. He will occupy one of the recently built affordable homes which will bring the total number of completed affordable homes to 273, achieving 90% affordable housing on the project to date.
The Leader of Enfield Council, Cllr Ergin Erbil, said: “The completion of Meridian One A is a significant milestone for Meridian Water and for Enfield Council. It shows how our long-term plans are being translated into real homes for local people.
“Meeting the residents today helps put into perspective all the positive work the Council are doing in building new high-quality homes for local people.”
Rob Wilkson, Regional Managing Director, Vistry London, said: “The completion of the first phase at Meridian One marks an important milestone for Vistry and for the wider community in Edmonton. Handing over the final homes within the 301 delivered in this phase - alongside a new skills academy, play area, and community facilities is something we’re incredibly proud of. These elements not only help create a thriving neighbourhood today but also support long term local growth and sustainability.
"Working collectively with our partner, Enfield Council, and our design teams, we have delivered a fantastic project, and we look forward to returning to site later this year as we begin the next phase, which will bring forward a further c700 much needed new homes, together with community, retail, and commercial spaces for local people to benefit from.”
David Orchin, Sales Director, Sage Homes, said: “We’re pleased to continue delivering affordable homes as part of this major regeneration project. Shared ownership is a fantastic product to help those who can’t afford to buy outright get onto the housing ladder and avoid the expense and uncertainty of the private rented sector. Meridian Water has given our customers a chance to be part of a new and growing community, which looks set to go from strength to strength."
