Enfield Council has received exceptional praise for the services offered to care leavers aged 18 to 21 following an Ofsted inspection in January.
The inspection focused on the effectiveness of the Council’s support to young people leaving care, including the quality and suitability of accommodation, the support care leavers receive with education and employment opportunities and whether care leavers with specific needs were supported to achieve their potential.
The Care Leavers Hub was described as a welcoming space for young people to connect with personal advisers and social workers for practical advice and support.
The inspectors also noted that the leaders and workers go above and beyond to provide support to young people in very sensitive circumstances.
During the visit, young people shared their feedback with inspectors, describing the service as “5 star” and praising the commitment and support they received.
Councillor Abdul Abdullahi, Cabinet Member for Children’s Services said: “We would like to thank the Ofsted inspectors who conducted the review and recognised the positive outcomes our care leavers were achieving with the help of our dedicated staff.
“The feedback from young people during the inspection was particularly heartening to hear.”

This positive outcome strengthens our resolve to continue improving the services and the opportunities we provide for every young person leaving our care."
